>> Crabb & Co.
on Monday, Jul 25, 2022 at 12:11am.
report Crabb & Co is the best seafood that I've ever eaten, hands down. There is simply no comparison. The atmosphere is tops, you'll want to take pictures. And the price will make you want to leave a bigger tip. But the people are the good part, They're genuinely good folks and it shows, and I know first hand that if they think you're not happy they're going to try to make it up to you. I'm proud to recommend them to my best friends.

>> Wappapello Lake Fireworks Show
on Thursday, Jun 23, 2022 at 11:59pm.
report I'm not sure what the year count is for the show, but it happens every year and it's usually the best one around. Dexter and Poplar Bluff also have shows every year. If you go and have something to add, please sign up for free and leave a comment. Once you're verified, you can add events to the calendar for others to see. We need a few people adding these events so we don't miss any, I work full time and don't know most of what's going on at the lake myself so I need your help if this site is going to be as awesome as it could be.

report Note to self, one thing I noticed while looking around without being logged in is that when I see someone's wall, I see all of their posts to other members and also posts from other members. I think I'm going to automatically make these posts private and non-member visitors will only see posts to places and events, and posts on that member's wall, written by that member that are specifically marked public. This change will be made in the next few days if I get a chance.

report Today is my first day of freedom after being quarantined for nearly two weeks, so I went out to China Buffet in Sikeston to celebrate :) All I got done on the website today though is I put the log out link on the profile page and got rid of it at the top by your username. It takes up too much space and is something that only needs to be used when you're finished so now it's less obtrusive. Also the sign up link is gone again from every page (when not logged in) and is only found on the login form. This is less intuitive for non-members to find, but I just don't like the looks of it on every page.

report Oh and you don't need to use the contact form for letting me know problems, simply comment on the page where the problem is. Places, events, home walls and stories can all be commented on, so if the problem is on any other page where comments aren't available, just post on my wall (rpstitz) and that'll be great thanks.

on Tuesday, Sep 14, 2021 at 1:41am.
report So far it's been three years since this story was written, and we've just now entered beta testing stage. Sorry it has taken so long, but the biggest reason has been that in the past three years nobody has joined. The only contact form submissions I've had in the past three years is from Chinese and Russian bots advertising viagra, website development and a little porn. I thought about making the comment form harder to use for robots, and I did add a place for website URL then hid it in CSS so if it had anything typed in it then I knew it was a robot and the website would just delete and ignore it, but most of them leave that field blank as if the page was rendered on an actual browser by a real person maybe, so I let them keep coming in. It's not a big pain to delete bot messages and they only come as texts to my phone so they aren't hurting anything (I never click on their links, I just delete them). Maybe soon we'll get some activity and make some progress.

on Tuesday, Sep 14, 2021 at 1:27am.
report It's all better now, when the stories page loads it actually goes through the posts and counts the comments for each story. Before it was relying on a counter that was incremented and decremented when comments were created/deleted respectively, but the counter isn't reliable because during a database switch, many of the comments were added and not counted. Now it should work as advertised.

report The stories page shows 5 comments, but there is only this one. The reason is that I switched the database table for comments and the counter is still looking at the old table.

>> How To Claim Your Place
on Monday, Sep 6, 2021 at 3:25am.
report I forgot to cover the registration process, the link to get started is located on the login form. So click "Log In" near the top right corner of the screen and then you should see instructions and a register link. It's pretty simple, you'll have to use a real, working email address that hasn't been used yet, and you'll be required to click a verification link in an email that you'll receive as part of the registration process. Plus the captcha is really simple and isn't case sensitive so you don't have to use capital letters in the answer. The password is whatever you want it to be, you can have anything except spaces and it needs to be at least 6 characters long but not more than 255 long.

report This year marks 20 years since Afghani terrorists hijacked the airplanes and crashed them into the World Trade Center buildings. Last week Biden gave Afghanistan back to the Taliban, along with several billion dollars in equipment including tens of thousands of automatic rifles, several tanks, helicopters, hundreds of humvees and much, much more including large caches of cash. All while they continued to kill Americans. Oh yeah, and Biden also gave them a hit list of Americans and America sympathizers left behind so they'll know who to look for. This year our flags fly high in support for the troops who gave all for an incompetent piece of poo.

report I've only been there once for a friend's concert, but it was tons of fun and I like the layout of the place. They seem to have a lot going on during the summer, but I've never seen a list of events (or I would have added them to the calendar). I think they do karaoke a lot, and have bands on their stage so listen on the radio for their ads or maybe one of them will join us here and let us know what's happening. Oh and if you're there some time, maybe let them know that it's free. :)

on Sunday, Aug 22, 2021 at 2:14pm.
report I eat here about twice or three times a month, and I usually have either the cheeseburger and fries basket or else the Philly cheese steak sandwich and fries. The food is really good, the service is fast and friendly and you can eat it there or take it with you. I usually take it home. It's hard not to call this place Carolina's, in fact it's still in my phone as that...but it is Speedy Cone and they still have all of the great ice cream treats as always.

report When the city folks go to the Ozarks for the first time, it's probably like if a Redneck went to Africa. Except for the big stuff that can kill you, we just have mountain lions and bears, deer and a few wild boar here and there. Haven't heard of many people ever getting killed by any of them though, but we do have a few snakes that are pretty nasty. These posts are just for testing the website and for fun.

report Welcome to Wappapello.net, a new twist in social networking. Here you can update your status, share pictures, post events, follow a place, make a friend, join in public discussions, send a private message, write and publish a blog, find out about a local concert, check the lake stage trends, and more. If you own or run a local business, your account will be attached to a place to represent your business. Places act just like people, in that they have a home page with posts that can be commented on and liked. The difference is that with people, you ask to be their friend. With places, you follow them and they can only comment on things on their wall and things tagged with their handle (@tag). People who own a place may choose to post as themselves or their place, but only as themselves if it's not related to the place.
