Although it originated in the aftermath of the Civil War as a holiday for honoring fallen soldiers, this holiday has become a day on which the dead of all wars, and the dead generally, are remembered in special programs held in cemeteries, churches, and other public meeting places. This holiday also falls on the weekend that generally marks the start of the summer swimming and camping season, so please remember to always burn local wood when camping. It's not because we want to sell you firewood, it's to stop the spread of the
emerald ash borer beetle that kills trees so please do your part to help and thanks.
